Today, Rolex’s chronograph line of watches is known as the Daytona; however, Rolex was manufacturing wristwatches with chronograph complications long before the Daytona name ever made an appearance on a Rolex dial. One rendition from the 1960s, the reference 6238 is most commonly known as the Pre-Daytona because it sits at a turning point in design, when Rolex’s chronograph first started to take its now-iconic form.
