Running 9 hours 20 minutes late as it approaches it next to last stop in Fullerton, California, Amtrak train (the westbound Southwest Chief) has had a number of setbacks on its journey from Chicago to Los Angeles. Among the problems was the addition of BNSF SD70MAC 9615 in La Junta, Colorado, because of ailing Amtrak P42DC 45 developed problems, along with slow orders through Kansas and Colorado due to signal problems (reportedly copper theft), and then setting out unit 45 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The train was running so late at this point that a crew change was scheduled for Fullerton, with the new crew taking the train the final twenty-six miles into Los Angeles.
